I just got a Beagle puppy. I know nothing about them. Has anyone here every had a beagle? Any advice on the breed?

We have two Goldens that are 1 year old. I literally HATE walking the boy because he is so very disobedient. He wants to pull me and HAS pulled both of our children down onto the pavement, so they are unable to walk the dogs at all. A good dog training book would be greatly appreciated.

Is anyone so sick of the designer dog breeds?

my cuz has a bechon fresie a “designer”puppy.i think the “designer”pups are ridiculous and im sick of it.my mom likes teacup yorkies but i dont.like golden doodle,pomadoodlesheperdpoodle,morkie,puggle,labradoodle,pocket beagle,pocket bear cub…etc
i think its retarted and im tired of stupid people mainly girls putting the poor pups in their purses.i c it all the time and the teacup chihuahuas that whimper and shake that are forced in to cramped spaces.is it animal cruelty??are you sick of it??

i dont know alot about bechons but the one i know is mean.but anyway thing like pomapoos?it hurts 2 c that people pay a bucketload of money when we should be adopting and stoping puppymills and dog beaters,so idk why people buy the sick runts and breed together,it causes health problems!?

I have a couple problems with my 7 month old beagle puppy…

1. He barks ALL THE TIME. I know that beagles bark because they are hounds. I didn’t think about looking up anything about beagles, because that’s not what I wanted. I rescued him from a shelter that were going to kill him a week later, because he has a broken tail. I walked in expecting a small fluffy dog and came home with a beagle. Anyway, he barks inside, he barks outside, he barks when he is in a room and I’m not, and he barks when he is in his kennel and I’m not home. I got him a shock collar thinking it might help…yeah right. So I bought him a muzzle…haha nice try. He just won’t stop. I live at home and my family HATES him, because he barks all the time. Can amyone help me?

2. He eats cat poop. Actually any poop he can get his paws on. The rabbit poop outside is usually 90% of his diet. It is soooo gross. Are beagles the only dogs that do that, or did I just pick the wrong one?

3. He hates his kennel. I thought kennel training would be easy. Dogs love dens, and a kennel is like his little den, so why does he hate it sooo much?

4. If I leave the room, and he can follow me, he FREAKS out. He starts whinning, then crying, then barking. I want to move out into an apartment, but he barks so much that I can’t do that. And I don’t have enough money for a house.

Ahhhh can anyone help me? I love this dog to death, but his constent barking and other habits are driving my family apart.

My dog is allergic to many foods, particularly high protien foods such as meat. My household includes myself, my husband, two teen aged sons and an elderly aunt who suffers from early stages of alziemers. The aunt frequently forgets that no one is to feed the dog but me, and gives her some of whatever she is eating. This is causing some serious health problems for the dog. I’m thinking the best thing would be to train the dog to refuse anything to eat from anyone but myself. Anyone have any ideas of how to do this aside from locking the dog away from the aunt. They are really great friends and keep each other company while the rest of us need to be gone.
