Wow, we definitely need more dog owners like you in the world.
Hey, you could always do what many Americans do. When cute baby Fido isn’t so little and cute anymore, and the behavioral issues you helped develop [mouthiness, biting, jumping up, begging, getting onto furniture, etc] stops being cute, you could just surrender them to the pound and start fresh with a new puppy!
Looks aren’t everything. Beagles are stubborn high energy dogs that ate VERY hard to train. They tend to be barkers because that’s what theywer bred to do – hunt and bark then they found the prey.
less so. Some owners overfeed and don’t exercise them so they start to not even look like Beagles. I agree they are one of the cutest puppies. I think you can overcome that some with good food and keeping them fit. Funny you should mention that I saw one at Petsmart today and thought the same thing.
I think alot of breeds are cute when they are puppies and when they get to a certain age the cuteness is gone Especially Basset Hounds, but as long as hes your dog and you love him you will think he is the most gorgeous dog in the world.
Go out and get a stuffed dog. You are nowhere near mature enough for a dog. PUPPYHOOD IS TEMPORARY. It will grow and it will change. Get used to it. I am sure you are not nearly as “cute” as you used to be as a child.
Grow up.
Exceptionally cute means nothing. All puppies are cute to one degree or another. Cute puppy faces have little bearing on what their genetic state what will be the final picture.
Want a cute adult? get an adult beagle
Not really. They’re decently cute. I love beagles and a lot need homes at shelters, but you should only get the dog you really want. You sound like you want a small toy dog.
Point Number One about Beagles: They have major, serious attitude. Stubborn with a capital S. And T. And U, and…. you get the idea. A Beagle is the only animal that I know of that knows the word “Why.”
Point Number Two about Beagles: Yes, they are hard to housetrain.
Truth Number Three about Beagles: Unlike other dogs, a Beagle’s motivation in life is not you. A Beagle does not live to obey your every command. A Beagle’s life is about him, his stomach, his nose, his butt, his comfort when he sleeps. Him. Don’t get me wrong, he LOVES you. Adores you. Has to sit right up against you on the couch. Follows you from room to room. Howls when you’re gone, wags his tail so ferociously when you come home it could knock you over. Plays with your kids and wouldn’t hurt them for the world. An awesome companion.
But his aim in life is not to please and obey you, like many dogs. He will not fetch unless he wants to. He will not come when called unless he feels like it. And if something out there smells interesting, or those dogs over there look like they’re having fun, that definitely rules out “feeling like it”. And know this: if those dogs over there are on the other side of a four lane highway, it doesn’t matter – he’ll haul ass across it to get to them whether there are cars coming or not. As a result, beagles are *not* off leash dogs. Ever.
If you get a Beagle, he’ll hog the bed and fart under the covers. He’ll howl so loudly at dogs walking down the street you’ll think your eardrums are bleeding. He’ll dig up the back yard during the rainstorm and come in the house with his paws caked in mud. He’ll rattle his dishes to be fed or watered or otherwise catered to right in the middle of CSI. He’ll eat things right off your plate, and you’ll spend hundreds in vet bills to ensure that entire chicken leg he just inhaled in one gulp doesn’t kill him as he tries to digest it.
And he’ll snuggle with you under the covers, and trot merrily down the street beside you, and be friendly to every single person he meets. He’ll hang out with you on a lazy Saturday, and play tug of war with you with his favourite toy, and charm all the ladies at the pet store with his earnest little face. He’ll keep the kitchen floor immaculately clean, and welcome people at the door, and be your best friend. And if this is what you’re looking for in a dog, get a Beagle.
Because beagles are scent hounds, they can be roamers, an escape-proof fenced yard is a must have with a beagle. Fences should be high enough (4 feet or higher) to prevent climbing and secured at the base to prevent digging out. Gates should have good latches and be child-proof, preferably locked. However, not all beagles are climbers or diggers. This usually happens if they are just left outside without any kind of attention from the family or other dogs. Beagles need companionship and daily exercise. Prone to barking and howling when bored and with there active nature, Beagles do not make good apartment dogs.
Remember beagles do grow older and there looks change slightly, but i still think there pretty cute, but remember CUTE is NOT a valid reason to base a breed choose ON! If that the soul reason you want a beagle puppy, then you are no where near readfy for a dog.
Now here what adult beagles MAY look like

My family raises beagles, and my mom always says that they’re adorable when they’re puppies, but once they turn into adults, they just aren’t as cute. They also smell worse than other dogs, I’m thinking especially when they’re older. However (and this could be just because I’m a dog lover =]), I think they are cute all around! Cuter when they’re puppies, but still cute when they’re adults. Hope this helps! =]
