How about another beagle?
Do you use your dog for hunting? Get another hunting dog. Is he a good lap dog? Get a small breed dog. It all depends. Any 2 young dogs can easily be socialized together.
Just don’t get a pug and breed ‘em together. *yuck* worst genetic nightmare of the “designer” fads of ‘breeds’.
another beagle, (no two are just alike), and your probably familiar with that breed.
Another Beagle of course!
Dogs love to be around their own breed. In some way they can tell the different breeds apart. If your done with the beagle and not wanting another, I guess just about any breed would be fine.
Try and keep the activeness levels the same though. Size doesn’t really matter. The key to the friendship is a good introduction.
In a sense of purebred dogs, it doesn’t really depend on the breed, yes some factors do come to mind however it generally depends on the dog as all dogs are different personality wise.
A good breed that I’ll plug due to 15years of showing is the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (a very level headed small dog, friendly and trainable, loyal and easy going).
What I would recommend, if you would like a purebred dog go to http://www.ankc.org.au. Do your research on different dog breeds. Then go visit legit breeders/show homes of the breeds of interest and view the dogs. Or alternatively go to a couple of dog shows in your local area and view the different breeds of dogs, you can ask the breeders anything and most will give you the best advise they can.
I would stand clear of designer dogs, snoodles, labradoodles etc. They are simple Mixed Bred dogs with high price tags and can have many faults. Nor are recognised as legit breeds.
On another note, don’t forget about your local RSPCA, or ASPCA, pound etc. You can take your Beagle there to meet the dogs there and you might find your Beagles best mate there! Plus your also rehoming a dog in need of a home and out of a shelter.
Hope this helps.
as others have said.. another beagle.
If your wanting something totally different, look to petfinder.com. Lots of purebreeds and mixes available. Just get one that will compliment your dogs size and temperment. Neither one dominating or overpowering the other.
some i like for you are:
corgi
poodle
brussels
spaniel
Boston
Samoyed
Basset
Laso
Sure you wanna raise 2 pups at once?? get em altered. Gud luck
well really beagles love mostly all other dogs! It depends what you want. I have 3 dogs our beagle is the oldest at 3, then we got a mini pin, 2. They are very close and pick on each other and sleep together. Now we have a lab mix that’s 1, they are good friends and love to play together.
