No don’t worry.
Bathe in one tabelspoon of salt to one pint of water, as often as you wish. Every couple of hours if not bleeding.
This will keep any infection at bay and it should be fine.
I’d take him to the vet, or at least ring for advice – he might need a tetanus jab poor little thing.
Ears bleed a lot but a small cut should heal by itself ok, Just watch that it does not get infected. Blackthorn can cause nasty infections. #
Just watch it to make sure it isn’t infected, cleaning if every so often. If you don’t see any noticible change in her behavior that might signal he’s in pain, he’s fine and doesn’t need to see a vet. You may want to call them, though, and see what they recommend.
just put neosporin on it every few hours. no need for vet =]
yes take him to the vet
It will heal by itself. Just check everyday to make sure no dirt or debris has gotten into the cut. Within a week or so it will be healed.
If you notice any signs of swelling or yellow pus then you need to see a vet.
I don’t think you would need to take him to the vet for a small cut. You really have done everything you can do. Just keep an eye on the cut and make sure it doesn’t get infected.
Clean it with some peroxide not rubbing alcohol. Then put some neosporin on it. It should form a scab in a day or two.
Keep the wound clean, some poroxide on a cotton ball will be fine. The wound will heal in a few days
Oh, do not worry at all when you read John’s answer. His is dumb. wash his/her ear really well to keep it from being infected!
Your fine. As long as the bleeding stoped, i would put something to cover it though so it dosent get infected. You did the right thing by cleaning the wound. =)
It sounds very minor & nothing need be done unless you want to apply some antibacterial on it.
If it is a small shallow cut and you have stopped the bleeding then just leave it be. You have already cleaned the wound appropriately. Just keep an eye on it as if he shakes his head it may reopen
I wouldn’t personally! The way you have described it it doesn’t Sound infected and if the dog is not in pain it should be o.k.!!
It’s VERY easy to over react towards our beloved pets. Save the vet bill and buy him some treats instead. Pretty sure he will agree with me.
Just wash it with very mild soap such as dial and cold water. If you have some antibacterial cream, you can put it on. But I will personally just ignore it. When you paper cut your finger, will you go to the hospital?
i would take him to a vet if i was you! just to make sure that hes ok.because a vet might know more than all of us.
if its not a deep deep cut just wash it every now and then to make sure its clean. use hydrogen peroxide. and blow on it when it starts to bubble so it doesn’t hurt him. put some neosporin on it. its an antibiotic for cuts and burns for ppl. but you can try it on your puppy. just make sure you don’t leave it wet just in case he tries licking it off. or you cant try going to a pet store and ask if they have any special cut solutions or suggestions for dogs. if the cut seems to get infected (it gets hot and swollen or continues to bleed) then he might need medical attention.
good luck!
If it has stopped bleeding then it will probably be fine. Keep an eye on it though because if he starts shaking his head around it will probably open up again and start bleeding again. If that happens, then you should take your dog to the vet and have them show you how to bandage it. Ears have a lot of blood supply to them and even very small cuts tend to bleed a lot. If the dog shakes their head a lot then it can keep blood clots from forming and staying long enough for a scab to form (they won’t bleed to death from a small cut on their ear, although it will make a horrid mess around your house if you don’t get it bandaged properly…trust me, I still have dog blood on the bathroom ceiling from the few times my dog has cut her ear, and they were always extremely small cuts less than 1/4 inch long) or they can cause bruising (hematoma) to the ear that would require surgery to correct.
