Petsmart doesn’t sell dogs. I suggest going to your local shelter. They sell them at shelters for $50.00 to $300.00. Well at least that’s what my local shelter sells them for. On Craigslist sometimes they’re even free.
Do not buy a puppy or a dog from a pet shop or any kind of outlet as it is likely to have originated from a puppy farm. Breeders would never sell their puppies via a pet shop, despite what you may be told.
Puppy mills have been around for decades. They continue to thrive because they prey on unwitting consumers who are smitten by too-cute-for-words puppies in pet store windows and on legitimate-seeming websites. Puppy mills house dogs in shockingly poor conditions. After their fertility wanes, breeding animals are often killed, abandoned or sold cheaply to another mill to try and get “one more litter” out of the dog. The annual result of all this breeding is millions of puppies, many with behavior and/or health problems.
Petsmart doesn’t sell dogs. They do, however, host adoption events for local rescues. So you may find a rescue that has a beagle that is holding an event at a Petsmart or a Petco. I would call your local store and ask them if they have any adoption events scheduled anytime soon. I would also ask for the names of the rescues they support so you can find their website and look at the dogs beforehand.
Don’t get a dog from a pet store. They come from puppy mills which are horrible and cruel. They are also often imbred. Go to a breeder, or even better would be to go to a shelter or rescue.
Petsmart doesn’t sell dogs. They do host adoption events though. You can find a beagle at rescues, http://www.petfinder.com, or your local shelter. Or look for breeders through- http://clubs.akc.org/NBC/
Please don’t buy from a petstore. The dogs come from puppy mills.
Never purchase a dog from a retailer like Petland (puppy mill dogs), Craigslist or classified ads, or a backyard breeder. They do not breed dogs for temperament, health, or breed standard. They breed only for profit.
Instead, look on Petfinder.com.
HSUS has the best information on where to find a dog and how to find a reputable breeder. A responsible breeder will never “sell” a dog but will instead place their dog in an appropriate home.

I don’t believe that Petsmart SELLS any Dogs and that they mainly work with the Humane Society to place dogs that need homes.
You can still find puppies but organizations like Beagle Buddies are some of the best places you can get a dog from.
I got my Beagle at 6months old from a nearby Animal Control. Someone had even already started potty training him for me!
