Having looked at several videos, read your facebook, and tried to find as much info for 3 days now, this is the first time i’ve heard of keeping him on a leash and tied to me… for the first year?I need more explanation. I know my mixed breed (doberman/lab i think) is trying to figure me out, and seems to have more patience than I. I was watching a lot of Dog Whisperer and reading his books because it was? all i could find that was consistent. I like your approach better tho.
well my dog dosen’t even bark at all even when people? are at the door? so how do i teach him to bark when people knock or ring the doorbell?
Zak is my conscience.?
How much do you actually? interact with children? I assume you haven’t raised any. Most of the times when I hear you describe how to interact with children it’s nothing like how most people interact with kids in real life. If a child is jumping all over a guest, they won’t stop simply by saying “Oh now deary, that’s not how to act” any more than it’s going to work saying that to a dog. Teaching, whether human or other animal, is way beyond “because I said so.” You MUST teach them WHY and HOW.
@Sthorvnes Enrol them with a dog modelling/acting? agency…
Zak i have a major problem with that subject. Any time someones is outside the door or the bell ringing my yorkie start barking or making noices.. I have him as a child and i treat him like one. But i cant stop him from that. At nights this is even worst. My neibors come home pretty late when you sleep? and then he starts all those things!! ANy practical view of what i can do? This is a huge problem and i’m afraid i will have to leave this appartment soon if the people start complain..
What are the three characteristics of labs someone told me that every? color has a distinct characteristic
I think Zak George is in that part of his expert learning curve where he simply doesn’t know what he’s doing right. “Dog training is completely a mindset”, yes, I agree. But does it? help anyone? I think you can teach the “connection” best by making people teach simple tricks and look for the connection. Look for what works and don’t overthink it.
your eyes? are so pretty
My iPhone was delivered last Friday by UPS my dog was next to me. I had to in a sit stay while I signed for it. She is a Boxer/AmStaff who is 4 years old. She? gets excited when someone comes over but is getting better especially after walks.
generic fetch video – yes please! My Old English Mastiff will benefit. PS I saw you on TV at the weekend on “The Dog’s House”. What was going on with your hair? It looked like a grey wig compared to what I know? your hair to be from these videos…
generic fetch video – yes please! My Old? English Mastiff will benefit
alot of big statements again? xD
I’ve got a question I would be really happy if you would share your thoughts on. I have a Westie terrier, and when we’re out he is almost only interested in sniffing tracks, marking territory, and so on, and? not so much in playing with me (except for doing basic commandos like stay, roll around etc.). He’s totally uninterested in toys while outside, and just wants to go around exploring. As this seems to be what he wants to do, should I let it be, or can I get him more interested in playing?
“Trust your instinct.” Right – that’s why there are so many books and programs on child rearing techniques…because trusting your instincts is all? you need.
When you? push on the table, your camera shakes. You should mount it on something more stable.
I think this is one of the most difficult and common problems to solve. As you said, dogs get excited when the doorbell rings. I ask my guests to not talk to the them or pet them, to ignore them. It works fairly well. It seems? to calm the dogs down more quickly because they know they’re not getting attention until they do.
I love Buddy Tethering! Works wonders with loose leash walking! And gives you two hands to work with your dog in a situation like this. Plus, it makes your dog pay attention to you much more. And I love your genuine praise phrase. Every dog has it’s own currency, but sometimes you just need? to forget about the food and work with the dog. We tell people all the time. If you’re dog isn’t taking food stop giving it to them and just praise them when they are doing it right.
I have to disagree about technique not being important as well. You can have an ideal mindset but give your dog contradicting or confusing signals or use something that your dog isn’t comfortable? with.
And thank-you for being nice to the Jehovahs Wittnesses when they call. I am one and I appretiate it?
:D:D
Zak George is? like MY favourite dog trainer
Hes so awesome
Love his videos
And his dogs are SO cute (L) Keep up the good work zak
How do I stop my? dog from barking at every dog or person we pass when we go walking?
YES DO THE GENERIC FETCH VIDEO I DONT WANT TO KEEP BUYING? FRISBEES PLEASE!
Since I started watching your videos…I don’t listen to other peoples comments of how to “fix” your dog. I relay on your videos and instinct and the bond between me and dog to teach? and communicate with dogs.
I’m guessing? your awesome with kids…its not just dog trainning videos. You can also learn a thing or two about handling kids.
