Dog Training Reliability – Honey the Great Dane tests her basic commands
www.bighoneydog.com / How well does your dog know his basic commands? How reliable is his training? Honey the Great Dane tries the test to see how well she knows her basic commands when her human is not standing and giving them in the usual way… (*Dogs do not generalise – they learn each command only associated with specific cues such as position, place, tone ot voice, etc, and when any of these change, they have to ‘re-learn’ the command in the new setting. You cannot really say your dog is “trained” until they can reliably perform the same command in a number of different settings & contexts, with you in different positions. This is a good test to see just how well your dog knows his commands and the reliability of his training!)
Honey is soooooooo adorable!
Just starting out using youtube and your videos are one that I follow regular. Thanks.

Very impressive! Our beloved Basset that we lost last year always knew my husband was the “Master” UNLESS he laid on the floor. Then he thought he was the boss. This is so neat and thanks for the info!

As with all your videos, I am very impressed !
Love that Honey !!! *****
Great video! I’m going to try this later! Thanks for sharing!
Your human is so silly. That was most confusing to watch, but you figured it out. Those FLOORS! Ish! Hard to get up and down, huh.

Yeha, you’re right – I overdid the “Sit” the 1st time!
I usually only say it once and wait but I think I was a bit anxious & over-excited for her to do it in the new position! She did it following just 1 command the 2nd time round… Interestingly, Ian Dunbar disagrees with the common belief that saying a command many times will cause dogs to only follow the command after multiple repetitions – he says it’s not true and has done trials to prove it!
It looks fun, but saying the words so many times without giving her time to regester them would teach her to only fallow the command after you say it like, 5 times? I’d say it once, and if she doesn’t do it after 5 seconds, then try again as opposed to “Kai sit. Kai sit. kai sit. Kai sit. kai sit.” She’d just look at me and think, “Mom, what are you DOING?”
Oh yes! please let us know how you got on – maybe a video too?!
Lol that looked like you were having a lot of fun! I have to try this now too!
No, this is her “day bed” which is easier to move around – her proper big beanbag bed is in the living room where she sleeps at night
It was cool to see her trying to figure it out.
lots of drool huh?
so you changed her bed from the super thick one?
that was very interesting, thank you.
That was a funny video! Honey was confused at first but as always she did very well!
This was entertaining! thanks for the tips!
Nice
