The K-9 BSD is a remote controlled device designed to eject a variety of motivational toys a short distance, creating prey for the dog. It is highly effective by allowing the dog the opportunity and freedom freedom to act in conducting a search in environment containing prey. This allows training to take place in real work settings by simply manipulating target odor presentation and placment, and then allowing dog to self discover with minimal trainer involvment. This conditions a strong hunting behavior when coupled with a prey driven dog.
The instant reward idea is great but I would be worried that the dog would smell his toy
The dogs responds to odor only. The odor is always presented as the most abundant source distractor odors such as device and rewards are also in search area so are part of the environment to dog during foundation and maintenance training.. See examples of other videos here on you tube. You will see device in plain view along with reward yet dog only responds to odor.
Is the dog finding the scent or the k-9 bsd machine?
