Touching Story of a Dog Who Crawled His Way Home After Tornadoes

Smithfield, Alabama If a tornado picked you up, threw you across the sky, and set you down in an unfamiliar place far away from home, and you broke two legs in the process, could you find your way back? That’s exactly the incredible story of Mason, a terrier mix in Alabama.
I was excited to hear about the story and could not believe that the family gave him up after he struggled to get back home. It’s a classic story about an animal’s loyalty. I have had a pet return home after an unexplained disappearance and it’s one of my fondest memories. I hope he’s loved, cared for and happy now.
what fucking loser owners. leave the dog in the house and then abandon him? when he CRAWLS back to them? pieces of shit. the dog is amazing and i hope he’s been adopted by people with real hearts.

the owner is a irresponsible piece of shit. My dog is like my children, they are with me even if we would have to be undre the bridge. His dad abandoned him when the dog MOST needed him. Fuck that dad is a piece of shit

I bet they took there i-pads cell phones and useless possesions,possesions that you can replace, someone should take that dog away from them, how the fuck can you leave him behind?? I know I will get a lot of guff for saying that ,and 99.99% of it will be from people that have never had a dog or pet, I hope when things get better , Mason takes a huge shit right on there pillow , and takes a piss in there shoes !!! I don’t know the real story, but why was that dog left in the garage in the first place,after what he went through , and he came back to me, that dog would never leave my side ever again,!! ever ! and to give him away ,, ????? ,god made a big mistake when he made dogs ,he did not allow them to live long enough, you are never more close to your pet then when they die!! , GIVE THAT GOG A BIG HUG FOR ME !!
That is so sad that those people would give him to a shelter after he went threw so much just to get back to them. Some people are just heartless.
The owners must have been very good to this dog & loved him or he would have not gone to such an extent to get back to them….All you people who have bad things to say about them should try putting yourself in their shoes. He needs medical care & they can’t give it to him now, they will be reuinted as soon as possible….
Of course he is in pain! His legs are broken!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why was he hiding in the garage during a tornado in the first place? The owners should have had him with them!!!!!!!!!

Such a blessed and wonderful dog. Dog’s really can’t show much more companionship than this, I hope their holders will keep that dog as a family member until its final breath. Lucky animal.

If that dog went thru all that to get back to me. He would be with me always !! Even if we had to camp out in the yard while getting my house rebuilt. The fact that the shelter has him bothers me.
@hurleygurlie2388 I don’t think the owners signed off on the little guy. I think they just want the shelter to care for him because he does need medical care while they clean up from the tornado. There’s probably a lot of debris laying around he could get hurt on.
@likeastarbaby Well I found this article about it on ABC News called “Dog Finds His Way Home After Alabama Tornado”, it tells a completely diferent story about the owners and says they will take him back, he’s gonna go back home when he is healed. Can’t post links, but it shouldn’t be hard to find
@maritz3 yeah i was thinking that…but then surely the story would have said that? the only excuse for giving him away would be if they genuinely could not afford to buy dog food or pay for him. the shelters must be inundated with animals injured by the tornado. the fact of the matter is that their house was ruined and they dont want him in the way taking up time when theyre trying to rebuild it. if they wanted someone to look after him temporarily they would have given him to a friend.
owners suck fuck u u deserve shit. Obviously they don’t treat him as part of their family. So worried of their house and personal belongings and not the dog. That dog just crawled miles in broken leg to get back to home, to his family but instead given to shelter? for what reason? no money? yet they build that humongous house. FUcking alabama REDNECKS.
i don’t think they gave the dog to the shelter, i think the shelter is just caring for him while they rebuild their house… so they can take care of him and make sure he heals right and all that.
