My 10 wk old Beagle pup goes like really excited and bites me alot and chases me around the house! Its hurting now as his teeth are sharp! Is this normal and how can i stop it? He still has a month before he can go for walks as he hasnt had his third vaccination. Will he be more calm then?
I mean will the walks calm him not the vaccination!
it’s normal. I used to breed beagle puppies. eventually they calm down more and your puppy should stop nipping you in a few weeks. you could try giving it more things to stimulate its teeth such as toys.
Having his third injection won’t calm him down LOL. He’s a puppy and running round with you is huge fun – this is a chasing breed after all. When he gets to that level, end the game. Take him out to empty, and either crate him or put him in his bed. I’ve always found when it gets to this point, it’s normally because they are getting well tired (same as with little kids) so chances are he’ll just moan for a while, and then crash. It’s up to you to call a halt, even if only temporarily. Give him something to concentrate on, a toy, or other treat. This is all part of his training. Getting him into a routine – play time, sleep time, feed time, and doing biz. time. Once he gets into a routine, he’ll be much easier to handle – or should be! This is a naturally energetic breed, so you have quite a number of years yet before he starts to slow down!
Even though hes still a puppy, you can still take him around a few blocks. Let him enjoy the outdoors and sniff around as he walks with you. Beagles are energetic and need to be exercised regularly or they’ll find a way to spend their energy, like bugging their owners until they get tired.
