@CAROLMRAMOS Not true. There are particular breeds that need to crated for their own safety. Take the Siberian Husky, it is extremely rare to get a husky that is not destructive. With most huskies you can use sprays, noise diversion, kongs, chew toys and none of it will stop them from trashing your house. My husky loves her crate and climbs in there multiple times a day, it’s more of a little bedroom for her than a box and she treats it like a dog bed.
I gave up on the crate training. I think that b/c he was transported via a rescue transport truck to me he has some issues.
He will go on a pee-pad in my room. He’ll also go to sleep in his crate at night but I leave the door open. He was in boarding recently and they put him in his crate at night and I noticed a small sore on his paw I think from trying to get out. So, I think extremely slowly over time I’ll try closing the door sometimes but over the coarse of a year perhaps.
@cbrowncolors has that changed? i started training ma labradoodle last week and he still whines and doesnt like going to the crate
@cbrowncolors you should let him adjust to be on the cage start over again first 5 mins then 10mins work slowly up…it sounds like a separation problem.
that looked a lot like a prison for dogs. >_>
Very nice information and tips about dog crate training!! Thanks for sharing this video.
@CAROLMRAMOS he’ll poop everywhere
No matter what the pet shop owner or dog trainer says, a crate is just a box that you can see through, and putting dogs in crates is just a way to ignore and warehouse them until you get around to taking care of them properly.
Hi, I’m having a terrible time finding advice on my dog’s whining in the crate. He’ll whine and fuss for hours. I give him a kong with wetdog food in it to lure him ni and he only gets it when he’s in the crate but he won’t touch it once I close the crate door and just fusses the whole time. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong here.
