I want to adopt a beagle or basset hound puppy.
I want one under 3 months old.
I want a female
It needs to be 25 miles out of Nashville at the most. Preferably near Brentwood Tennessee.
I’m looking for a free one, but I can manage anything under 100 dollars.
I know I’m being extremely picky. PLEASE HELP!!
Best to keep an eye out for a hound mix at your local shelter even they will charge half of what you can afford.
LMAO, good luck with that!
i think beagle because if you want a girl she really wouldn’t look right as a basset i know people say looks don’t effect the way you love a dog or how much, actually the brutal truth is IT DOES

Go Get ‘em! but you’ll have to relax some of your criteria and probably won’t do it for under $100. First, you need to have more funds available than that to properly care for ANY dog. That is why most rescues charge $200 to $300. It’s to make sure people can afford the dogs. You may find a shelter or HS with adoption fees under $100 but you’ll have to find that on your own.
Look up the national breed clubs’ websites with the AKC connection online. Go to the national sites. Most list (and show) available rescues there. But NONE of them are free. You may or may not find a puppy the age you want, either. You are asking a LOT for only $100!!!
You can also search “Beagle Rescue in Nashville” or “Basset Hound Rescue in Nashville” to find rescues close to home. However, for the price you are willing to pay, you are not likely to find what you want. If you scale back your demands a bit, you might find a very nice older pup or young adult dog that is healthy, vaccinated and spayed and needs a good home. All rescues, like all shelter dogs, are spayed or neutered.
Once in a blue moon a breeder will let a dog go at a discount price to a Very Good home but $100 is too much of a discount. If you can’t afford the puppy, how will you pay for its food, toys, vaccinations, etc?
Next to no shelter will give out puppies for free. It costs the shelter money to house, vaccinate, and feed the dog, so they will ask for some form of compensation.
There are four, six month old beagle/basset hound puppies at the SPCA of Tennesse in Brentwood:

I got a beagle puppy from a breeder in Indiana a few years ago and it cost $250. If you want a full bred dog within 25 miles of your house, you will most likely have to pay much more than you can afford. I think you should look each week for a dog you like at your local shelters. They probably won’t be pure bred, but they will be cheap, and just as good, in my opinion.
The Beagle is a very popular dog breed. They make excellent pets because of their great temperament and gentle disposition. However, they can be handful due to their stubbornness. Make sure that this is the breed you want before you get one.

The temperament of this Basset Hound is tranquil. They are well behaved, and have a gentle, devoted disposition. With this type of personality traits they are ideal for family life. The may be laid back but do not confuse it for being timid. They are a bit stubborn but are very loving with their owners and gentle with children. They can be trained to be quite obedient but if they find and interesting smell to track, getting their attention may prove to be difficult. The basset has a deep melodious bark.
