Not all but some. Some lead healthy lives. Others are born with heaps of problems. Heart, lung, nose, eyes, teeth, joint, and blood issues are present in many small dog breeds. Natural genetic variation still happens despite the efforts of those who created domesticated toy dogs.
@misskity6 I know where of you speak madam. You’re 6# is at the bottom of the “normal” scale. You are defensive for naught. As I stated before: I have two pure-bred Chihuahuas, one eight pounds (9 yrs) and the other six pounds (18 yrs). They are both normal size, rescues, and they are loved as much if not more than an expensive creature? dwarfed into a caricature of the breed. Miniature breeds exist – we are their guardians, we should not breed them into something unhealthy for themselves.
@HatedRebirth This is typical of an “extremist” . . . attack with wild accusations when knowledge is lacking. Simply because one believes in God doesn’t an extremist make. A normal-sized Chihuahua is just as cute, adorable, lovable, & much healthier. FYI, I have two pure-bred Chihuahuas, one eight pounds (9 yrs) and the other six pounds (18 yrs). They are both normal size, rescues, and they are loved as much if not more than an expensive creature dwarfed into a caricature of the breed.
@Gran0710 I have panic attacks, but lived in an apartment too small for a “normal” sized dog. If it wasn’t for people playing god with these “poor, defenseless creatures”, I wouldn’t have the two joys in my life today. I am beyond thankful that I am lucky enough to care for my two awesome girls. They have enhanced my life in ways only a dog owner knows. We are not all bulls in a china shop. My dogs are 6 and 8lbs, 3 and 7 yrs.They have fulfilling, happy lives & far from abnormal!
@karina1060 they don’t die because they’re small. They may die due to poor care, or lack thereof. Most mumans have the ability to care for small, delicate things. We are not all bulls in a china shop.
@arikdahn apology accepted. The price tag, the problems, I really haven’t given any thought to. A dog can enhance a person’s life in so many ways. The good far outweighs the “bad”
@misskity6
Thats hilarious. My ex-gf had one of these and it pissed me off. Tons of problems, scary cost of upkeep, frenetic personality, and an initial pricetag that would make you crap your pants. Actually, she and the dog had lots in common. She looked like Paris Hilton though which made all of her antics surprisingly ok. Everything has a story…. Anyway, you’re right. My apologies.
omfg… this is my dog exactly… no joke at ALL
