Dog Training Tutorial- HOUSETRAINING
House-training is often the first thing most dogs need to learn as they become part of a new family. Since this is something I have been getting numerous requests for – I decided to do a video on it. There is some additional information on housetraining (tips) that I did not include in the video which is available on my Facebook page under the discussions section. LINKS ——— FACEBOOK: bit.ly TWITTER: bit.ly WEBSITE: www.trainingpositive.com EMAIL: tab@traningpositive.com ***NOTE*** All this information assumes that the dog in question is in good health and not suffering from any sickness/disease. Sometimes lack of bladder and bowel control is a result of ill health and if you suspect that this might be the case with your dog, please immediately consult your vet to rule out any such possibility. It is also assumed that the dog is not struggling with fear-based elimination. As is often the case with some dogs, the goal in these instances would be to tackle the issue of fear/anxiety in addition to following all the advice given in the video. Unfortunately, the details in these situations are specific and unique to the dog – so the best approach is to contact a professional dog trainer who uses positive reinforcement only, to assess and determine the most appropriate course of action.
So, this is sort of been nagging at me. If I get a puppy what do I do when I have to work? I’m talking about days where I work 7-8 hours, a few times a week. I know crates training and all of that, but still. Leaving an non housebroken puppy at home that long doesn’t seem good.
@tab289 Hey I will get a dog in a few days and i’m living in an apartment alone and I want a well-trained dog and to be good at an apartment and not be destructive… any suggestions on the breed? Pls reply back . Nice videos I’ve watched every single one of them and now im fully prepared
I don’t know if this is just a coincidence but one day I came home at lunch to let out Shadow my lab/ collie mix, and was met by a very guilty looking pooch. I searched the house for “evidence” but found nothing out of place. It wasn’t until later that evening when my mom was cleaning out the cat litter and found a mountain that clearly wasn’t left by the cat that I realized why my dog was looking guilty. We never litter trained Shadow and he has done this on his own a few times now :S
Great video!
Hey great videos i was just windering if you could make a video explaning clicker traing thanks
When I catch my puppy in the act of peeing, I interupt him and pick him up to go outside. HOWEVER, when I pick him up, he contiunes to pee, even if he peed outside only 10mins ago.

Love your vids, got a question on the ecollar. Iv got a 2 1/2 Great Dane. Being a big or larger dog, they tend to be stronger. She loves the clicker. I’m guessing it’s using the tools the best way you can.

Hi Tab, I’ve been using clicker training in training my 2 months old Lab. He’s responded well so far. He’s learned to offer his paw when asked, knows to play fetch game. We’ve also been training him to relieve at he right place in the house. Though he does potty on his own on that place, he still has a tendency to pee whereever he likes unless we take him there proactively. We’ve been taking him to the right place after regualr intervals and hope like potty he’s also gonna pee at he right place.
hello… i have a 3 months old japanese spitz, i’ve been trying to train her to sit and lie down. so far, it has been great especially the sitting part.. i live with my sister and we have classes everyday and wer out from 8am to 7pm.. the puppy is left alone (indoor), and not potty trained since we dont have a crate(very expensive) and we dont know how to train her yet.. i was wondering if there is an easy and effective way to train her to go potty in our bathroom only? can u teach how?
what??? 0 dislikes??? you go boy!!
I have two boxers and they are both great! They are well trained and were easy to train! House training wasn’t that hard. But, during this time for both of our puppies, we only let them on the hardwood floor and not the carpet. That way if they did eliminate, it was much easier to clean.
I have a boxer, his 2 months and 2 weeks now. I been traning my puppy to putty outside the house but he is still doing it in side the house, i dont think the’re accidents cause he stays in his crate over night and no accidents. If someone can help ill apriciate

I have a 1,5 years old fem poodle mix. For her and our 2 cats it is forbidden to enter our bedroom about 1/2 a year now (I keep the door closed). The other day accidentally I left the door open and she peed on our new mattress. She had done this before on our old mattress and that’s why we had forbidden the entry of the animals in our bedroom. Do you have any idea why this happened? I was quite frustrated of that behavior. I would really lov to let the door open without worrying all the time.

Hi! Can you also come up with a video to teach a dog to use the toilet?
I’ve seen quite a number of videos of dogs doing this. And I believe, this is going to be a very useful dog knowledge to many people
The way I understood things, if the dog already know the commands, telling them over and over again will produce undesirable behavior and that the dog doesn’t have to listen to you the first time you ask them t do something. If you ask them to do something and they don’t, the first time, you should start again from the beginning-not just keep repeating it over and over.
Thanks so much!
It seemed to me that the young pup was getting frustrated, the owner explains that she? never really uses food rewards, but will only sometimes uses a toy reward? Although she does use positive reinforcement. Is this a learning process for a dog-extended periods of training, and the dog has to learn to be patient and wait til the end to get he reward? What about telling the dog to do the desired behavior 3-5 times, this seems inconsistent to me.
